The Mississippi River has always been more than a waterway. It is a working corridor that supports communities, industry, transportation, agriculture, infrastructure, and generations of Louisiana families.
But growth along the river also carries responsibility.
In 2025, American Rivers named the Mississippi River America’s #1 Most Endangered River, drawing national attention to flooding, resilience, restoration, infrastructure, and the safety of river communities.
At the same time, billions of dollars in new industrial and infrastructure investment are reshaping Louisiana’s river corridor.
Growth should leave the river and its communities stronger than it found them.
